About Rick

Rick has worked in creative since 1996. He started at a design desk and worked up to creative director, at agencies first and then inside B2B brands.

Most of his clients have the same problem. Marketing needs more than the creative team can make, and every decision lands on one overworked leader.

Rick takes those decisions off your desk. He sets up how creative work comes in, gets made and gets approved. Then he makes sure it sells.

What Rick does

Fixes the plumbing.

He talks to everyone who requests creative and maps every type of request. Each one gets a set turnaround time. A live board shows every project, owner and due date. One weekly meeting sets priorities.

What you get: marketers know when their work ships, and the "drop everything" requests stop.

Sets one standard.

Briefs that answer the questions designers would ask. Critique on a fixed rhythm. A design system that covers decks, ads, email, events and the web.

What you get: fewer revision rounds, and work that looks like one company no matter who made it.

Makes the work sell.

Every asset gets a marketer's read before it ships. Who it's for, the one benefit that matters, and the next step for the reader. In one program, ads built this way ran above 10% CTR across 50+ campaigns. The benchmark was 2 to 3%.

What you get: creative that earns its budget.

Runs the people.

He leads in-house designers, directs freelancers and manages agencies. Briefs go out clear. Feedback comes back in one voice.

What you get: one senior person accountable for creative, and your calendar back.

Makes things, too.

When it's the fastest way to ship, he writes the headline or designs the piece himself. Strategy, identity, campaigns, copy and event design are all in his hands.

What you get: no handoff when one more person would slow it down.

How Rick works with you

The three ways to work with Rick, and what each one looked like in practice.

01

Get more from your team.

You still run your team. Rick takes the creative calls off your plate: briefs, critique and day-to-day review that keeps work moving.

Selected work

  • Avalara. Turned a request queue into a full creative team that marketing planned around. Demand for creative grew 7x in a year. Case study
  • Icertis. Led the full rebrand system. The first ads in the new brand ran at 8% CTR.
02

Add his crew.

Need more output? His crew of 10 years covers copy, design, art direction and project management. Rick directs it all. You deal with one person.

Selected work

  • TwoManyCooks. A startup with a prototype and no brand. Strategy, identity, UI, campaign and copy, pitch-ready in 8 days. Case study
03

Keep your agencies on track.

You own the relationship. Rick manages the cadence, reviews the work and fields the agency's questions, so they stop landing on you.

Selected work

  • Nintex. Redirected a stalled agency rebrand. 2,500+ assets moved to the new brand in about 3 months. Case study
